VSTS and Azure AD

Why does VSTS require the use of a "Microsoft Account" rather than a real organizational account?

 

Is this by design? Is there anyway to change this? Is this on a roadmap for VSTS or Azure AD?

    You can configure VSTS to use Work accounts. Although if you have already started with using Microsoft accounts, you can't switch those to Work accounts. So going forward, any new user you add can be a work account. Details for setting this up are located here:
