As we continue to expand the end-to-end capabilities of Microsoft Entra, we firmly believe that a strong Identity and Access Management implementation should increase the productivity of the organization and all its people. Secure access should be as frictionless as possible for your users.

Thanks to feedback from customers like you, we’re delivering significant enhancements to the My Apps portal. This week we launched a public preview, available to all Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) users at myapps.microsoft.com.

A starting point for daily tasks

My Apps helps people quickly and securely access the apps they need. Your users can discover and launch applications that they have access to, making this portal a great starting point for every task.

Now easier to use

The new view is more usable, responsive, and accessible. It shows you and your users more apps in the same space and allows you to scroll between collections (groups of apps) instead of clicking to navigate between them. It scales better from large monitors to mobile devices, especially with multiple collections. All of this makes it easier and faster for your users to find and launch their applications, whether My Apps is being used with a mouse, touch screen, or screen reader and keyboard navigation.

Plus, each collection can be individually collapsed for easier navigation and also has an associated settings button, making it easier for you to find relevant actions, like hiding a collection.

Try the public preview today

Users can opt into the preview by selecting the “Try the preview” button in the header and can return to the previous view by selecting the “Return to previous view” button. Please note that drag-and-drop isn't available in this preview but will be added before general availability.

We invite you to try the improved My Apps experience today and share it with key stakeholders and your users.

In case you missed it: Add a site to My Apps

Now that My Apps allows your users to create links to websites, it's really the place where they can access all their relevant apps and sites. If they visit a website frequently that you haven’t yet integrated with Azure AD, they can add it by creating a simple link. To create a site, click “Add a site” and supply a name and URL.

We are having an issue with the MyApps preview for guest users. Just noticed this issue in past 2 weeks.

With the preview enabled, app links look like

    https://launcher.myapps.microsoft.com/api/signin/<appid>?tenantid=<tenantID>

When a guest user clicks the link they get an msgraph error - application not found.

Turning Preview off the URL becomes

    https://account.activedirtectory.windowsazure.com/applications/signin/<appid>?tenantid=<tenantID>

    and works fine.

Also is there an entry in Microsoft 365 Roadmap | Microsoft 365 about this and the future planned features?

We hope to use My Apps in complement to Viva Connections Dashboard in my company, having a better view on what's to come would help us.

    Thank you,

    Hello,

That is tremendous improvement as compared to previous verions!

One thing that is a show blocker for us is the ability for users to set an Icon or Thumbnail for their sites.

I guess it is possible to add it for admins but not for users.

Something re-using the image picker from SharePoint Online would be great, something like this:

But if we had something more basic in the first place, that would be great as well.

Second, as an admin can we see an aggregated view of all the sites / apps added by users? So we could from time to time discover useful sites and feature them in admin collections for example.

I see lots of similarities with Edge Bookmarks, would a sync with Microsoft Edge through Intune or the work profile make sense so managed favorites can be easily published to our collaborators and synchronized across devices?

    Thank you,

  • Hi Nicolas,

Apologies for the delayed response. We currently support admin collections which can be created by an admin and assigned to users/groups. However, when selecting the applications that are part of the collection, we do not support selecting them based on a category.

To create the "Office" collection, you'll need to search for and add the apps individually.

You can learn more about admin collections in our documentation.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks for that nice improvement of My Apps!

One question that came immediately in my mind is: Is it possible to manage app collections centrally and categorize apps at the tenant level to order them directly in the right collection?

I see already the future of each user creating a collection called "Office" and add "Word, Excel, PowerPoint,..." to it, when it could be done centrally for everybody.

Thanks for your great work! 🙂
