Microsoft’s vision for identity goes beyond traditional identity management to give our customers an entire toolset to secure access for everyone and everything in multicloud and multiplatform environments. Earlier this year, we significantly advanced this vision with the launch of Microsoft Entra and the new Microsoft Entra admin center.

We’re now pleased to announce the staged rollout of the Entra admin center for Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) customers. Starting this month, waves of customers will begin to be automatically directed to entra.microsoft.com from Microsoft 365 in place of the Azure AD admin center (aad.portal.azure.com).

Get to know the Microsoft Entra admin center

The Microsoft Entra admin center unifies visibility and administration of the Microsoft Entra identity and access solutions, including:

Azure AD

Safeguard your organization with the multicloud identity and access management solution used by more than 300,000 organizations, connecting people to their apps, devices, and data.

Microsoft Entra Permissions Management

Discover, remediate, and monitor permission risks across your multicloud infrastructure with a cloud infrastructure entitlement management (CIEM) solution.

Microsoft Entra Verified ID

Create, issue, and verify privacy-respecting, decentralized identity credentials with an identity verification solution that helps you enable more secure interactions with anyone or anything.

Microsoft Entra Workload Identities

Manage and help secure identities for digital workloads, such as apps and services. Control their access to cloud resources with risk-based policies and enforcement of least-privileged access.

Microsoft Entra Identity Governance

Simplify operations, meet regulatory requirements, and consolidate multiple point solutions with a complete solution across on-premises and cloud-based user directories.

In 2023, you’ll see even more capabilities roll out via the Microsoft Entra admin center.

What is happening to Azure AD?

You’ll still be able to complete all your Azure AD management tasks from the Microsoft Entra admin center. All the capabilities will remain available under the Azure AD tab in the navigation. Also, you’ll be able to return to the Azure AD admin center from a link on the Entra admin center.

Azure AD remains a fundamental solution for securing access for employees, customers, and partners with popular features, including the Azure AD application gallery, multifactor authentication, passwordless, and more. Microsoft was named a Leader in 2022 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Access Management for the 6th year, and we’re continuing to advance in authentication, resilience, and Conditional Access.

Prepare now for the move to Microsoft Entra admin center

To ensure uninterrupted access to the management experience, organizations should update their firewall rules as needed.

The Microsoft Entra admin center is available today at entra.microsoft.com, and we encourage you to explore it in preparation for the full migration.

We welcome your feedback via the admin center.

Just for clarification to us and our customers, what about portal.azure.com > Azure Active Directory blade. Will that also redirect to entra.microsoft.com or be left as-is?

    Hello,

That's great news! Now tell me please, how can I add something to favorites in entra admin center and where is favorites section? That's the crucial functionality for admin center and now it's lost.

  • Kav77 Click the “Show more” button at the bottom of the Azure Active Directory section of the left nav and it will reveal a “Roles & admins” menu group. You can also search for “role” in the top search bar to find the page you’re looking for.

I'm curious if this new portal will be changing how users manage apps. Will users and admins continue to share the same portal, or are there plans to change this?

I realize myaccess.microsoft.com has a button for myapplications.microsoft.com and account.activedirectory.windowsazure.com to manage apps and groups, but my question is related the the button/decision to block the Azure AD portal for users/not ("Restrict access to Azure AD administration portal"). I seem to recall doing so reduces functionality for users in some cases.

  • winicjusz the ability to favorite items in the left nav of the Entra portal is rolling out over the coming weeks. There will be a new top level nav item for favorites which sits below “Home”. Favorites will be addable via star icon buttons when you hover over various menu items in the left nav.
