We’ve been living with passwords for so long that it can be hard to imagine a world without them, but that is what Microsoft and other members of the FIDO (Fast Identity Online) Alliance are working toward. The FIDO Alliance has defined, and continues to work on, open authentication standards that allow people to authenticate to their apps and services with user-friendly and phishing-resistant passwordless login credentials.

To give you a better idea of how these solutions work, Andrew Shikiar, Executive Director and CMO of the FIDO Alliance, joined me, Pam Dingle, for our Inside Identity series, in which I guest host the fifth episode. He shares what makes FIDO more secure than passwords and why it’s so important to develop open standards. We also looked at different FIDO Authentication methods in the market and discussed how each one works.
