Teams iPad App not updating file changes

Hi, my school has recently started hosting important live documents on the files section of our Team. They are all Excel or Word files, and are regularly updated.

Unfortunately, when we use the iPad app to view them, changes to the files are not visible unless we press the button to edit them. (the 'preview' read-only view of the file displays no changes.) 

We can also get the correct version of the file by pressing the three dots and selecting 'Open in App'... but since the whole idea was to streamline our access to these files, this adds a level of inconvenience to the process.
