Mailbox in Office 365 not provisioning

Hello Community,

a customer of ours wants to migrate to Exchange Online but doesnt want any kind of hybrid Scenario. So what i did was use Azure AD Sync to get all Users and Passwords up and then deactivate the Sync to make them to Cloud Users, which worked fine.

My Problem now is that when i license them it says as its always doing in the Mail Tab that its provisioning the Mailbox.

So now, this is gone, i can see the Mail Options, everything is set to "blocked" and in Exchange Admin under Recipients 0 Mailboxes.

Am i just to impatient or anyone has encountered this before?

Thanks in Advance

  • What is their current environment? If they are using Exchange, syncing the user objects to O365 will also sync the information about their on-premises mailbox, thus O365 will not allow you to create a mailbox for them by assigning a license and expects you to do a migration instead.

      Hi Vasil,

they have an on Prem Exchange, i checked for the MailboxGuid though and there is none. I think those Attributes get cleaned when you disable the DirSync via Powershell. The Users are shown as Cloud Only Users and i can see the Options on the Mail Tab, no "Waiting for Migration" , but there just doesnt get a Mailbox provisioned.
