How do I protect borders and formatting when cutting text from a cell?

I have a simple ss that I use to track my time at work. I want to keep my borders for printing a selected range of cells. I often want to cut text in multiple cells and paste elsewhere in a sheet. I don't want  to lose the borders or format in the cut cells.
