I need to export data from a Sharepoint list to Excel. I clicked "Export to Excel" and received a downloaded iqy file. When I tried to open the iqy file, I got this message: "An unexpected error has occurred. Changes to your data cannot be saved".
In order to understand and solve the problem I have tested several hypotheses, so far without success.
I then tested this on another Sharepoint site (same PC and same local software), and I was then able to export and open the downloaded iqy file and a linked Excel book was created.
I now suspect that the problems I have with Sharepoint site # 1 has to do with user permissions to the Sharepoint site and/or to the list.
Question: what types of Sharepoint user permission are needed for me to open an iqy file and create a linked Excel workbook?
