Accept & Do Not Send a Response
- Jul 25, 2019
What's the status of this change to allow for tracking the response if the user selects "Accept Do Not Send a response"?
Thank you - Jack
1. Yes. The confusion the current behavior causes was so great we recently REMOVED the 'do not send a reply' option through GPO. Although we'd like to avoid the clutter of unnecessary emails, the attendance tracking is essential.
2. Yes. Again, attendance tracking is essential. Even if the organizer doesn't care about attendee acceptance, the presence of the tracking data seems harmless and simply be ignored.
Thanks for all the feedback, everybody! We're going to start on this improvement very soon. :-)

Any news on this? Last update was 2018 and this would be a great change for us. We do a lot of lunch and learns and email 400 people in the office. I don't want 400 emails coming my way but I'd really like to know who's actually coming by checking the scheduling assistant.
Thanks,

Thanks Julia, you would become my biggest hero when you fix this one ;-). Let me know when ready
- Jen4rmtheblockFeb 18, 2021Copper ContributorHas this been implemented yet? I would like to send a meeting and allow responses for the tracking tab but not received any addition info or notes. Thanks

Certainly hasn't been implemented yet.... I suspect Microsoft are focussing on Teams updates yes. I posted an article I wrote on this thread some time ago and it is still quite relevant I believe. I tried to explain how this works for the average user. - https://www.lingfordconsulting.com.au/ms-outlook/accepting-outlook-meeting-correctly It may be helpful for someone.

Julia Foran Do you have an ETA on when this improvement will be implemented?

We do plan to make this change in Outlook 2016 for Windows, but do not have an ETA yet. When responding from Windows, you'll need to send a response to update the organizer's tracking.
As mentioned previously, the new behavior (update organizer but do not send an email) is released for all other clients.

Julia Foran it's nearly been 9 months since you said "We do plan to make this change in Outlook 2016 for Windows" and still not ETA on when it will be delivered to Office 365 members.
Why is it taking so long?
I would have thought Outlook for Windows would be the first client you updated as it has been around the longest...
