Microsoft Copilot License Requirements
Until yesterday I thought the basic requirements were Business Premium, M365 E3 or E5. Now it seems that only Apps for Enterprise, M365 E3 or E5 go?
- Oct 12, 2023It's true and I posted a screenshot taken from the licensing documentation (in the small print) earlier on in this thread.

Microsoft Copilot is available as an add-on to Microsoft 365, offering advanced AI features integrated with Microsoft tools like Word, Excel, and Teams. Here are the key license requirements for using Microsoft Copilot:
Microsoft 365 Subscription: Copilot requires a base Microsoft 365 subscription, such as Microsoft 365 E3, E5, Business Standard, or Business Premium.
Add-on License: You need to purchase the Copilot add-on, which costs $30 per user per month, regardless of the underlying subscription type.
Channel Availability: As of January 2024, Copilot will be available via channels like Enterprise Agreement (EA), Enterprise Subscription Agreement (EAS), and Microsoft Direct.
Technical Requirements: Users must also be on certain update channels for apps (e.g., Current Channel or Monthly Enterprise Channel) and may need Azure Active Directory Premium (now called Entra ID) for full use.
