Microsoft Copilot License Requirements
Until yesterday I thought the basic requirements were Business Premium, M365 E3 or E5. Now it seems that only Apps for Enterprise, M365 E3 or E5 go?
- Oct 12, 2023It's true and I posted a screenshot taken from the licensing documentation (in the small print) earlier on in this thread.

Basing my reply on: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-365-copilot/how-to-prepare-for-microsoft-365-copilot/ba-p/3851566
"Copilot users must have either a Microsoft 365 E3 or E5 license [1] and an Azure Active Directory account". On top of that, users must be assigned a "Microsoft 365 Copilot license using the Microsoft 365 admin center (under Billing > Licenses)"
So, it's an add-on license, but you can only add it on to E3 or E5.

Footnotes:
[1] For small and medium business (SMB) customers, Microsoft 365 Business Standard or Business Premium will be eligible base licenses.
So it seems you will be able to add Copilot to both Business Premium or Business Standard so long as you fall under their definiton of "Small or Medium Business" --> defined as businesses with less than 500 employees or having up to 250 PCs. - Rene_VliegerJul 20, 2023Copper ContributorAnd Microsoft adviced, to gain the most benefit in and from CoPilot, to also use a teams premium license. This was told like two weeks ago during an webinair.
