A few months back, we launched the new Sticky Notes experience for Windows, a feature of OneNote to help you remember effortlessly. We are thrilled to announce updates for it, all thanks to the incredible feedback we've received from you since the launch.

Your input has been instrumental in shaping the direction of our development, and we are deeply grateful for your continued support and suggestions.

Windows Start Menu Entry-point

We have added a shortcut in the Start menu to make accessing new Sticky Notes experience easier for you. Now, your Sticky Notes are just a click away! 🚀

This shortcut launches the OneNote app directly into the new Sticky Notes view and is automatically added whenever you install or update the OneNote app.

The new purple-tinted Sticky Notes icon with the new tag makes this shortcut easily distinguishable from the existing Microsoft Sticky Notes app shortcut in the Start menu.

Always on Top

One of the most requested features is here! You can now pin your popped out notes, so they stay above other applications while you multitask or switch between apps. Simply click the pin icon in the top bar of a popped-out note to keep it always on top.

Copy Note

You can now effortlessly copy the entire content of a Sticky Note, including images and text, with a single click. Simply click on the ellipsis (…) menu and select Copy Note to copy everything to your clipboard.

    NOT STICKY AT ALL

Please, add an option to make the notes actually be sticky (i.e. able to survive also a reset/reboot/re-login) and automatically (re)opened on the desktop after login.

Old Sticky Notes for Windows 10 allowed this. This OneNote's Sticky Notes is a step backward missing a fundamental feature...

I completely agree with you! It's frustrating that Stick Notes doesn't stay on the desktop after restarting of logging back in. The old version on Windows 10 was so much more convenient.

I went back to the old Sticky Notes for that reason alone. Works great!

    Hello World.

I enjoy using the Sticky Notes App.
One issue is the spell checker or lack of it.
When will this standard feature, found in other Office365 programs, be integrated into Sticky Notes?

Thank you for reading this far. Have a good day.

Totally like the new sticky note feature and adding screenshot with link was very thoughtful.
Wish in upcoming update we can add multiple screenshots in a same note instead of limiting to just one.

Why can't I hand write on the new sticky notes? I like all the other added stuff but I want to still be able to write on them using my phone and laptop stylus.

I quite like the new Sticky Notes but it would be most helpful if I could reorder and sort them (say by colour or date, for example.) Spell check would be excellent as well.  The ability to pin a note to a specific page, like Notezilla can, would also be excellent.

I like the additional features of the (new) Sticky Notes app. However, one glaring omission is the inability to have the sticky notes stay open on the Windows Desktop all the time after rebooting. I know the Sticky Notes list is able to be set to open at Startup. However, the individual notes within the app must be reopened one at a time, unlike the previous Windows Sticky Notes app where they always remained open in their spot on the Desktop. Is there a place where we can request this feature?

Exactly. They are not Sticky at all in this new OneNote's Sticky Notes implementation. Selected notes should stay opened on the desktop forever, and pop-up automatically after reboot and re-login.

This is the main purpose of a "sticky note".

Can "Sticky Notes", "Notes" and "OneNote" work together like how "Teams", Sharepoint" and "OneDrive" work together? Maybe even more so because the use cases are so similar. Why can I not see my "Sticky Notes" on my phone unless I open up Microsoft 365 and see "Notes"?
