As COVID-19 continues to impact the world and drastically shift our day-to-day operations, millions of workers are adjusting to full-time remote work. While many organizations are exploring creative ways to drive human interaction and engagement, training and technical skilling remain a crucial component to continue empowering employees. Top of mind at Microsoft is a question many of our customers have asked: how can we securely enable thousands of employees to work remotely?

  • How do we enable thousands of employees to work remotely?
  • How can we empower IT to implement new solutions that support the challenges of remote work?
  • How do we continue supporting our employees with technical skilling and training?

Leveraging Microsoft 365 to Enable Remote Work

Jared Spataro has done an outstanding job detailing remote work trends and some of our own research findings on collaboration. Yusuf Mehdi shared some helpful tips on how to utilize Microsoft 365 to help you and your family experience more efficiency, and ease, across your lives during this difficult time.  To help support IT we’ve setup an Enabling remote work with Microsoft 365 community focused on guidance to help securely empower your remote workforce to remain productive. On the community you will find relevant technical documentation, training, and learnings from other experts on their journey of remote workforce enablement. Hosted on the enabling remote work community is a five-part webcast series covering a range of remote work topics led by our Microsoft 365 experts. Not able to watch the webcast series live? No problem! The series will be recorded and hosted on the community! For the IT pros looking for technical documentation on solution implementation check out the Microsoft 365 documentation center on Microsoft Docs!

As part of our commitment to providing on-demand readiness, Microsoft 365 content on Learn is continuously reviewed and updated. Our Microsoft 365 Fundamentals Learning Path received a content update to help learners better prepare for achieving the MS-900: Microsoft 365 Fundamentals certification. The Microsoft 365 developer catalog has grown to include six learning paths covering 32 modules and nearly 35 hours of learning content! Whether you are looking to skill up on extending Microsoft Teams within your organization or achieving the Microsoft 365 Certified: Developer Associate, the Microsoft 365 developer catalog has you covered!

You have asked, we have listened – learners want more hands-on experiences! Included in evergreen updates are an increased investment in more hands-on and interactive experiences contained within modules. These experiences enable learners to directly engage with the solutions you are skilling on to drive hands-on learning. Exercises range from configuring settings in tenants, to PowerShell scripting and automation, all the way to completing a solution implementation in a controlled interactive environment. Across the Microsoft 365 catalog on Learn you will find 19 Learning Paths, containing 113 modules, with over 100 hands-on exercises, creating nearly 100 hours of learning!

Microsoft Certification Update

On the Microsoft Certifications and Training front, we have communicated a handful of steps we are taking to ensure we remain focused on safely supporting Microsoft certification. We have waived reschedule and cancellation fees while also extending exam voucher dates and role-based certifications that were nearing expiration. Many components have moved virtual, including Pearson VUE testing and instructor-led training. Microsoft and Microsoft Learning Partners will continue to provide in-depth, technical training but in a virtual delivery format. A friendly reminder that Microsoft 365 on Learn is a key component for your skilling efforts to access a catalog of free, online training that can help you learn about a specific topic area or prepare to earn a Microsoft Certification.

What is coming for Microsoft 365 on Learn

Be on the lookout for four new Learning Paths covering Compliance being released this May and June! We will be deep-diving into Compliance content on popular topics such as Information Protection and Governance, Insider Risk Management, and Compliance Management. We will continue to identify solution areas to update and other areas to develop new-new content. Please let us know in the comments below what areas you would like to see us expand on, such as SharePoint, and what areas you’d like see content get created!

From all of us here at Microsoft, we wish you and your families all the best.
