Migrating from Office 2019 32-bit to Office 365 Enterprise 64-bit

Iron Contributor

Hello everyone,

I have to carry out the conversion from our Office 2019 32-bit to Office 365 Enterprise 64-bit. For this purpose, I have downloaded the installers and have constructed the following configuration file:

<Configuration>
  <Add OfficeClientEdition="64" Channel="Current">
    <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
      <Language ID="en-us" />
	  <ExcludeApp ID="Groove" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Lync" />
      <ExcludeApp ID="Publisher" />
    </Product>
  </Add>
  <Updates Enabled="TRUE" Channel="Current" />
  <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
  <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />
  <Property Name="SharedComputerLicensing" Value="0" />
  <Property Name="FORCEAPPSHUTDOWN" Value="FALSE" />
  <Property Name="DeviceBasedLicensing" Value="0" />
  <Property Name="SCLCacheOverride" Value="0" />
  <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />
  <Updates Enabled="TRUE" />
  <RemoveMSI />
</Configuration>

For some reason, every time I start the process, it stops within seconds of having begun. So, I'm not sure if I'm doing it correctly. If not, could someone guide me on how I can make this transition?

This is a fragment of the log file where the error can be seen: "PreReqs did not pass. Bailing out and returning failure.","Failing PreReq"

So, I suppose I'm missing something.

Details: Windows 10 64bits Ver 22H2

Thank you so much in advance,

Do you uninstall Office 2019 first through another process? If not, add the following statement to your XML:

<Remove All="TRUE" />

This will instruct the setup engine to uninstall ALL C2R-based products (this includes Office 2019) first and then install the Microsoft 365 Apps.

Otherwise setup runs into two conflicts. 1) Office 2019 and Microsoft 365 Apps can't co-exist on the same box, plus 2) the existing 32 bit install and new 64 bit install have a "bitness mismatch". Everything Office-related onthe box must be either 32 or 64 bit.
