OneNote - Inserting Code Blocks
Are there any plans for a way to format code blocks in OneNote without inserting a 1 column/row table or an ugly print out? The most relevant Google search brings up a post from 2018 where the top answer says its been requested on UserVoice and directs OP there, but 3 years later, still no code block formatting options and Microsoft isn't using UserVoice anymore so I don't where else I can submit feature requests besides this discussion board. Thanks!alex-francoJan 12, 2025Copper Contributor298KViews6likes16CommentsWhen opening OneNote client from SharePoint Notebook, get an error "We couldn't open that location."
When attempting to open the OneNote Windows Desktop client from SharePoint, we are getting the error, "We couldn't open that location. It might not exist or you might not have permission to open it. Please contact the owner of onenote:https://companyname.sharepoint.com/sites/SiteName/SiteAssets/Name #1 (V 04, 08, 97 for more information." I gave myself full admin permissions to the site and can fully access it on SharePoint, so it shouldn't be a permissions issue. The original owner of the site is also unable to open this notebook in OneNote. Initially, I thought it might be the way that it was named as the name of the notebook was "Name #1 (V 04, 08, 97 & 377) Notebook." Note that everything after the ampersand in the original error was missing so I thought that maybe just renaming the file would resolve it, but alas, it has not. Now the error reads: "Please contact the owner of onenote:https://companyname.sharepoint.com/sites/SiteName/SiteAssets/Name #1 (V 04, 08, 97 and 377 Notebook/Untitled%20Section.oneDesign%20Kick-Off for more information." The last part is the section name and tab. When attempting to open the Notebook on mobile, I get the error: "OneNote can't open this notebook because it has been deleted or moved. Please check the link address and then try again." I have renamed it multiple times but still cannot open in the desktop app. Other SharePoint Notebooks that I have access to in the tenant I'm able to open just fine. I have run a repair on my office install.4.5KViews1like6CommentsPlease add Markdown support
Please add support for Markdown editing/rendering. EverNote and Boostnote all support this, but OneNote still lacks this feature, while it remains so many developers' main notetaking tool. Take myself as an example, I enjoy its seamless integration with OneDrive and powerful search function, but find it difficult to properly take down coding related notes -- I was forced to format code snippets into monospaced font with shading to make them look like "code snippets". To elaborate the user story about this idea: The user can create a new "regular page" or a "Markdown page". If the latter, then Markdown tags entered are rendered as you type (e.g. #title, >quote, *bold*, `code`...) The user might also enjoy a "cell editing" mode (similar to Jupyter Notebook). So if the cursor is placed in a cell, then it changes to raw text view. And once escaped from this cell, it gets rendered. And maybe enable some Jupyter/VS Code stype shortcut keys, too (Alt+Up/Down to move the cell, Alt+Shift+Up/Down to duplicate the cell, Ctrl+Shift+K to kill a line, etc) This way notetaking will be more efficient/fun, and many developers would thank MS!frank-yifei-wangJan 04, 2025Steel Contributor112KViews182likes69CommentsHow to allow B2B users in Microsoft Places workgroups?
Our company recently purchased another company. While we are preparing migrating users from the two legacy tenants to a new, third tenant, we collaborate with each other using Cross Tenant Synch and Cross Tenant Access. I am currently testing out Places, but I am unable to add my team members from the other company to a Workgroup in Places: "1 user(s) couldn't be added, the administrator has disabled adding these user(s) to any workgroup". Any idea how/where I can change this? I am Global Admin.JakobRohdeDec 20, 2024Iron Contributor60Views0likes2CommentsMicrosoft 365 Failed to parse element: VersionOverrides on Cloud Server

Hi, Strange issue started a month ago at a customer site. They use RDS with Office 365 installed. Historically this has been working fine, then it randomly stopped signing in properly for all users. We can't point it down to anything specific however. Network / User / Settings all look good. What is strange is on first login to Outlook, it says it's done SSO but says unlicensed. A simple restart then would show it licensed. We have managed to work round that issue by saving the license folder \appdata\local\microsoft\office\ to the UPD. So for this, a month ago, new and existing users would just sign in and it worked. Then something changed and users were being asked to sign in every time. So we have made this change to include \appdata\local to the UPD - now users only see this problem once (a month). While not as good as it was a month ago, it is acceptable. However, and this is what I need help with. SSO is NOT working at all from Word / Excel. Open Word Blank Micrsoft Sign In box pops up. You have to type username and hit enter You then have to type your password and hit Sign In That popup then goes away, but at the tope right of Word, it still shows "Sign In". When you go to Account, it still has a Sign in box. BUT... if you now close and reopen word, both of those show the signed in user. The problem here is that this doesn't persist over the UPD, so happens every time the users open Word or Excel. As this is used by a business app to open docs, it's actually breaking the process and we need to fix this. I have been having a look at SSO info, because it feels like something fairly low level has changed with how this works, but can't find anything helpful, hence posting here after about a month of searching and trying things. It's not very helpful when you have MS links like: How to use Remote Connectivity Analyzer to troubleshoot single sign-on issues for Microsoft 365, Azure, or Intune https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/troubleshoot/active-directory/single-sign-on-issues How to run Remote Connectivity Analyzer to test SSO authentication To run Remote Connectivity Analyzer to test SSO authentication, follow these steps: Open a web browser, and then browse tohttps://www.testconnectivity.microsoft.com/tests/SingleSignOn/input. However, that page just hangs with LOADING written on it. Then on the change notes for this page we see that it was removed in 2022! Version 4.0.15 (October 2022) Removed the Single Sign-on Test now that basic authentication in Exchange Online is being disabled. Quick note on the setup. AD is synced to Entra using Entra Connect (Password Hash Sync + SSO enabled), latest version. SSO URLs are added to Internet trusted sites as per setup instructions. Network has been tested and all URLS accessible and working for the user. User is on RDS on fully updated Server 2016 and is on the latest Office 365 app updates. So I guess my first question is: 1) Does SSO still work for Word and Excel? Is it a realistic expectation that the user will sign in to the PC and then Word and Excel will automatically sign in for the user (proper seamless single sign on) like it was doing only a month or so ago? 2) What can I do to test and troubleshoot this if it should be working? I have been trying for a month, so I have already tried a lot of things. But maybe I am missing some tests? Any info to help get this working again (or that it's no longer possible and we missed that instruction from MS) would be ideal. I have a password-protected Word document that I have attached in a OneNote page. I've noticed recently that when I try to open the Word document, it prompts for the password three times before it opens the file. This is with the desktop version of OneNote and Word, currently at Version 2411. The issue does not exist if I roll Office back to version 2404 (16.0.17531.20120), and I've been able to replicate the issue on multiple computers so it looks like a problem that was introduced in a recent Office update. Anyone else experiencing similar?AnthonyLohDec 11, 2024Copper Contributor12Views0likes0CommentsRuby text formatting
Is there any way to format ALL ruby text within one MS Word document at the same time? I currently have to select each word (Japanese character) and format every one in the document separately - it takes too long. The attached file shows an example of the individual selections with red circles and the format I am wanting to change. I want to change EVERYTHING in the document at one time if possible rather than each one individually. I did try putting the cursor on one bit of text content that I wanted to formatted then went to Home ribbon >Style pane>Select all but it selected everything else except the words I wanted so the Phonetic Guide was grated out. See attached image. Any help would be much appreciated. . Currently running: Mac OS 10.14.6 Excel with Office for Mac 2021 Manual copies to iCloud. Also running with Parallels Desktop: Windows 10 Excel with Office 365 for Windows Autosave copies to OneDrive. Hello, I would appreciate some assistance with an unusual problem involving Excel for Mac 2021and possibly with Mac OS X, Excel for Windows 365, iCloud, and OneDrive.I generally create, edit, and save my workbooks using Excel for Mac and Excel for Windows 365 on the same file and never had any problem. After making edits to a workbook, I tried to save the file in Excel for Mac 2021. A message appeared saying that it could not save it due to some sharing violation. It did not specify the message's source, nor a directory path or the enclosing directory name to help locate the file. Instead, it instructed me to close the workbook without saving it and to access a file named 3E0CF950.MACTF, rename it and save it as a regular Excel file. Microsoft technical support instructed me to search at: /Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel/Data/Library/Preferences/AutroRecovery But the was no AutoRecovery directory. I also searched unsuccessfully on iCloud Drive and OneDrive, where I have autosave enabled when I edit my workbooks in Windows 10. I have also searched for it using Spotlight and the FIND command of the Finder with hidden files made visible. Nada. Although Microsoft tech support thinks that the file does not exist, however, I think it's unlikely that I would get a message so detailed to include the filename if none was created. A similar issue happened about a year ago before I had Excel for Windows installed. I was never able to find a resolution for it. Has anyone else experienced this? Before giving up, would anyone happen to know: Other locations to search on my Mac? A safe command line for Terminal to search more thoroughly? If Excel would create temp files with the ".MACTF" extension, or could this be a product of the Mac OS, iCloud or the OneDrive to which I enable autosave when I edit my Excel workbooks in WIndows? Whether the file name "3E0CF950.MACTF" ïs a random name, or is it a generic file name specific to my issue, and if so, what does it mean? If it's normal for Excel for Mac 2021 to lack an AuitoRecovery folder? Your kind assistance would be much appreciated. Please advise.LChoiSFDec 05, 2024Copper Contributor15KViews0likes9Comments欧博开户+威a3322148
Hello everyone! I just started learning about Microsoft Cloud Platform, and I am most interested in the Office 365 product. However, I found the name Microsoft 365 on some Microsoft resources. Do these two names mean the same thing? Or are there any differences between them? I haven't found any clear description.da17050981504Dec 04, 2024Brass Contributor63Views5likes0Comments
