using o365 mail user with local Active Directory group

We have our mailboxes in o365 and use Azure to sync with our local AD. we want to try and add o365 mail users to our local AD groups, is this possible?

Just like you create any other user object, simply populate the mail attribute.

No, you need to create the (mail) user in AD first.
