Group Naming Policy

I've added a naming policy for Groups that uses the <Department> attribute before the <Group Name>.  The department is somewhat long ABC (ABC-Apple Banna Carrot), so when the group is created the Group name is "ABC (ABC-Apple Banna Carrot)-GroupName", but the Group email is "ABCABC-AppleBannaCarrot-GroupName@onmicrosoft.com".  Not sure where it's getting the first ABC in the Department name?

Any ideas?
