It seems like, in Office 365, there are a few different ways for users to identify objects (files, pages, etc.) that they may want to get back to easily later. I think the first instance of this was the ability (in Office apps like Word, PowerPoint and Excel) to "Pin" a file. It would then show up in the backstage for that app in the "Pinned" tab. This was fantastic. No matter where a file was stored - in OneDrive or any SharePoint site - it was easily accessible via its native app. There was also a "Pinned" tab/section in the Office Portal (portal.office.com) where you could see ALL of your pinned docs, regardless of application...even better! When MS renovated the portal (which happened kind of gradually over the past year), that "Pinned" section was replaced with "Favorites". OK...not that big a deal...it's the same idea, and anything that was Pinned previously was now a Favorite. It only becomes confusing when you go into an Office app and still see the "Pinned" term. I mean, it's not THAT confusing, but it'd still be better if the same term were used. Flash forward to about a month ago. I was giving my monthly SharePoint training and talking about the "Saved for later" thing. You know...in the "News from sites" section, you see a news post you want to read but don't have time, you click the little bookmark icon to "Save [it] for later". Only now, that "Saved for later" section in the sidebar on the SharePoint start page ALSO shows the (SharePoint-stored) files that I had "Pinned" or made a "Favorite". So, at this point, we have three different terms being used for objects that a user wants to keep easily accessible. However, not all of those objects used to be in the same bucket. Now they are. Personally, I used those things differently because, having different names, I assumed they would remain separate. I like the "Save for later" concept for SharePoint pages/posts because I think it makes sense with how a lot of people use SharePoint. I also like "Pinned" and "Favorite" (although a common term would be fantastic) for marking files, Forms, Lists, etc. However, Idon'tlike the combination of all these. It's just confusing to people. Maybe this is a transitional thing and there will be a single identifier used at some point later, but right now, it's really just causing frustration for our users.2.6KViews2likes1CommentTracking user adoption through engagement
I'm keen to monitor use of our O365 assets on a company-wide and on a per-user basis. For example: Added a documents to ODFB Updates to document in ODFB Share a document in ODFB Subscribe to Alerts on the All Staff Library Do a Search in Delve Create a Board in Delve Post a new conversation to a Team Are there any OOTB analytics or datasets that I can consume, or would I need to look at building something myself?Solved2.2KViews1like6CommentsBoost User Adoption and Engagement in Microsoft 365 with Organizational Messages!

Will it prevent from having performance issues?
Hi all, One of my customers decided to sync a SharePoint library to their Explorer which contains 5 million files. This results in a huge performance issue on the local laptops of all users. I already read the documentation that IF you sync a library it should not contain over 300.000 to make it perform as expected. My advice has been to stop syncing those locations and start working fully from SharePoint online, instead. Now, we have this feature to create a shortcut to OneDrive from a SharePoint library. In this scenario the question was that they wanted to be able to create shortcuts to favorite folders within the library. So this shortcut feature might be the solution for that. But, I saw this article which is very clear:Add Shortcut to OneDrive vs. OneDrive Sync - SharePoint Maven And scenario 2 here applies for my customer; They are not syncing the libary (anymore), but they are syncing OneDrive for Business (which is fine). But now, because the shortcut of the library to OneDrive will be created, then also the library it self will be synced. But now my question: Will this again result in this huge performance issue when you sync a folder within that SharePoint libary (with 5 million files) again? Of will this be fine?2.7KViews2likes1CommentHow to synchronize group members via Office 365 Groups across Office 365 Tools?
Hello, As almost all office 365 collaboration tools are backed by Office 365 Group, I assumed whenever a member is added into Office 365 Group, It would be automatically added in other Office 365 connected services/tools, however, it doesn't seem so. For instance. I have created a Team site, which has created an office 365 group and Microsoft teams team. Then, I have tried to add new members in the office 365 group, however, that user was not added in respective Microsoft Teams team. Is that really true or I am doing something wrong? If it's true, then does that even happen in other Office 365 tools? How to keep all members of Office 365 synchronized across office 365 tools? On a user level, Office 365 Groups are one of the biggest selling points for moving to Office 365. They provide quick, easy access to an online workspace for communicating with colleagues and collaborating on documents and files. There’s little-to-no learning curve: get in and start working. But they’re also one of the most confusing new things in Office 365. Below is my take on how Groups (and Yammer and Teams!) works from an everyday user's perspective. Use it for training, for explaining, and as a go-to resource when Groups confuses you. Below is just a small part of the complete infographic. Read that in full and share with your colleagues!28KViews12likes3Comments
