1 TopicUnexplained changes to data, cells are reverting to older versions of document?
Hello, New user, I joined for this specific problem. We have a document stored in a server and our remote employees access it using a VPN. This is a workbook containing 12 sheets, some of them decent sized. The largest sheet is 4000 rows by 40 columns. Some of the sheets contain formatting and pivot tables that are not compatible with 2007 and older. I am running version 16.0.4639.1000 (Excel 2016), as far as I know all of my users are running 2016. I am stumped on this problem, we started noticing this last week. Some data that was old (Dec 2017) had suddenly been changed back to how it was in Dec 2017. We have old backups of the workbook of which we compared it. This was sporadic and random, some things had changed, some had not. When we noticed the issue I set up an hourly backup to my local PC, to monitor and investigate the issue. I cannot determine when, who, or how these changes come about. My backups over the weekend show data, and then Monday morning our current version of the file has some cells reverted back to data from 8 days ago. Have you encountered this before, can you lend some input, or have a hunch? I am all ears. To me it sounds like a user is merging an old copy with the current one, but I have spoken with them and none have received a dialogue box about merging data. If I left out any version info or otherwise, please let me know and I will update it with that. Thank you for your help2KViews0likes1Comment
