Editor’s Note: Starting early February 2024, all faculty and higher education students 18+ will be eligible when signed in to Copilot (formerly Bing Chat Enterprise) with their work or school account. Eligibility includes Student Use Benefit users. Learn more at aka.ms/CopilotExpansionEDU

In addition to Microsoft 365 E3, E5, Business Standard, and Business Premium licenses, we have extended Bing Chat Enterprise eligibility to Microsoft 365 A3 and A5 licenses for faculty. In the future, there will also be a stand-alone offering for $5 per user, per month, for those customers who do not have these Microsoft 365 licenses.

With Bing Chat Enterprise, user and organization data are protected and will not leak outside the organization. What goes in—and comes out—remains protected. Chat data is not saved, and Microsoft has no eyes-on access, which means no one can view your data and your data is not used to train the models.

Check out the Bing Chat Enterprise documentation to learn more about how to turn Bing Chat Enterprise on or off for your organization. It will be on by default no earlier than September 21st. To turn on Bing Chat Enterprise today, your organization will need to have the following configuration completed by an IT administrator.

Once enabled, faculty signed in with their Microsoft Entra ID (currently known as Azure Active Directory) can access Bing Chat Enterprise in the Microsoft Edge sidebar and bing.com/chat. Learn more by reading the official announcement blog, aka.ms/BCEforEDUFaculty, and the Bing Chat Enterprise FAQ.
