Experiencing Latency and Data Loss issue in Azure Portal for Many Data Types - 11/01 - Resolved

We've confirmed that all systems are back to normal with no customer impact as of 11/01, 21:35 UTC. Our logs show the incident started on 11/01, 20:35 UTC and that during the 1 hours and 19 minutes that it took to resolve the issue 10% of customers experienced intermittent data latency, data gaps and incorrect alert activation.
  • Root Cause: The failure was due to potential backend storage latency issue for a reliant event ingestion system caused the delay of Application Insights data.

We understand that customers rely on Application Insights as a critical service and apologize for any impact this incident caused.

We continue to investigate issues within Application Insights. Root cause is not fully understood at this time. Some customers continue to experience Data loss and Data Latency for resources hosted in region Central US. We are working to establish the start time for the issue, initial findings indicate that the problem began at 11/01 ~8:35PM UTC. We currently have no estimate for resolution.
