Microsoft Word "Save as PDF" - fonts not rendering
Hi all, I have a Word document which uses the Readex Pro family of fonts: https://github.com/ThomasJockin/readexpro I have all fonts installed locally and when I view it in Word, it appears as rendered: the main font used is Readex Pro Deca Light, while headings used Readex Pro Deca SemiBold. However, when I use "Save a Copy > PDF" in Word, everything is rendered as Readex Pro Deca Light. (That happens with the "Bitmap text..." in the options either on or off. If I use Print > Print to PDF, the headings are rendered in the right font. But of course I don't get features that way such as a left-hand navigation pane of headings in the resulting PDF. Does anyone know why Microsoft Word's "Save a Copy > PDF" seems not to use font families correctly? Is there a workaround here?
Word Mail Merge->PDF->Auto Name
I am trying to think of a way to automate a process. Part of this is in word and part with Adobe. Basically, here is the scenario. Every year all the staff in the company (about 350-400 employees) get evaluated and then their compensation is recalculated and an employment contract sent to them for the next year. The contract is in PDF form which they digitally sign and return to the company. Right now the process is like this: A spreadsheet is created with all the employee specific information. The spreadsheet data is merged with the standard employment agreement based on their title. The merge creates a different document for each employee which must then be saved (named with the employee name), converted to a PDF, and then a digital signature is requested via Adobe. I would like to automate this whole procedure. I would like to mail merge, save each document as a Word Doc and then a PDF under the employee's name. Once I have all of that, I would like to get PDF to send out all the documents via email (which will be in the spreadsheet too). I am a programmer so code does not scare me in the least. I am just not sure of the approach to take. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
How do I correct heading numbering?
UPDATE: I couldn't remove this post, after I discovered the issue. Thanks! I need to update heading numbering within an old document. Custom headings were made (as pictured) but I need the heading levels 2 and 3 to include the parent heading number of each. When I attempt to update the level 2 heading for Section 2, it wants to continue with Section 1 (see pictured example). In the number format, I do not know how to tell Word to include the parent numbers? I included "1." thinking it was intelligent enough to know that was just a format designation of the parent heading, but I guess that isn't how. I realize I may be making some glaring mistakes, but just trying to get it right. So this is a learning moment. The caveat here is that I'm not creating the heading from scratch but rather, trying to update the existing document headings. I did follow some online suggestions but none of them addressed including the parent value in this scenario. Section 2 <Heading Level 1 text format> <-- Here I need the word "Section" to proceed the level 1 heading number 2.1 <Heading Level 2> <-- Here I need the level 2 heading to include the parent section level number 2.1.1 <Heading Level 3> <-- Here I need the level 3 heading to include level 1 and 2 numbers.
How do I turn off copilot if it's not in the options?
This provided screenshot is what I get with Word Options. There are no copilot settings in Word Options in my copy of Office, I cannot find any way of turning it off, and yet copilot has gotten so much worse by giving me three suggestions (at the top of the window, suggesting what kind of content I should make) every time I open a new document. Copilot just keeps getting more intrusive, and I want to shut it off. The more it's shoved in my face, the less I want to use it. I don't know why you're making it so intrusive, I've never heard of anyone actually LIKING this stuff. Why would someone want suggestions as to what kind of document to make? It's far worse than Clippy could even dream of. I haven't tried uninstalling and reinstalling Office yet, but I don't want to have to go through and change a bunch of options again (that I always forget, there are so many options that I have to change to make it usable, like turning off the awful Backstage when saving) unless it's truly necessary to fix this problem. If it gets updated regularly (like the update that gives three Copilot suggestions every time I open a new document), I don't see why reinstalling it would fix the problem. But maybe reinstalling is the answer--if it IS the answer, I just want confirmation that it has actually worked for other people, and not just a generic answer that hasn't been confirmed.Microsoft office 2007 stopped support - lifetime key
Hello, I purchased Microsoft Office Small Business 2007 with a lifetime license. It used to work fine, but now it doesn’t run with Microsoft 365. I’d like to know: Did Microsoft completely stop supporting Office 2007? Is my license key valid only for Office 2007, or can I get a new key for Microsoft 365? Since it was a “lifetime” license, what options do I have now that it no longer works? Only purchasing 365?
Word - Same Line Page Breaks Visibly Change Formatting
Within the last week or so, Word suddenly has started changing the formatting of visible text when a page break is used on the same line. How can this be corrected? (To be clear, yes, a page break could moved to the next line or deleted if there is not room for the extra line, but this impacts dozens of templates I have been using for years and I just want to set the formatting back to how it has worked in the past, where a page break inserted at the end of a line with centered text did not change the formatting of the visible text in said line.) Example 1 below is how it always used to appear whether the page break was on the same line as the centered title text or not. Example 2 below is how it looks now when the page break is on the same line.
O365 Word is so slow
I am using Microsoft® Word für Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2505 Build 16.0.18827.20102) 64 Bit with a document of 620 Pages. It is stored on my local disk to be sure not to have nework problems. My Notebook 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1360P 2.20 GHz with 16 GB Memory and installed OS Windows 11 Enterprise. The document size is about 20 Mbyte. To open the document and be ready to edit, takes about 4 minutes. Searching the document takes Minutes and it is very slow. If the document is oben for another 5 Minutes it will be a bit faster. The memory usage of word is about 700 MB. To be able to work with the document I need to save it as a PDF. With PDF Reader it is comfortable to work with. Is it possible to increase the performance of MS-Word? Thx Bernhard
