Teams Meeting Recording does not include Embedded Video from PowerPoint presentation
One of my customers ran into an interesting issue recently that I have been able to replicate. I'm curious if others are also experiencing this, and if there's a way to make it work properly. Here's the scenario: A PowerPoint slideshow is shared in a Teams meeting using the "Present in Teams" button from PowerPoint. The slideshow contains an embedded *.webm video that was recorded with Stream (on SharePoint). Participants in the meeting are able to see and hear the video correctly during the meeting. In the Teams meeting recording, the audio and video from the *.webm video does not work... it appears blank on the slide as if no video was played. In some testing with the customer prior to the meeting, the video file playback quality was best when using the "Present in Teams" button instead of a screen share in Teams with computer audio. I had assumed this built-in sharing method would be our best route. We did not realize the meeting would be recorded and did not test that specifically. After the issue occurred, I recorded a new video and created a new PowerPoint slideshow to test this in 3 scenarios... First by sharing the PowerPoint app from the Teams meeting. The Teams meeting recording contained the audio and video properly from the embedded *.webm file that was played. Second, from the Teams meeting, sharing the entire screen including computer audio, the embedded *.webm video again played properly in the meeting recording. Third, when using the "Present in Teams" button from PowerPoint, the *.webm video played correctly during the meeting, but the Teams meeting recording did not contain audio or video from the embedded *.webm video, just like what my customer experienced. I can't tell if this is a known limitation, an issue with Teams meeting recording functionality, or an issue with PowerPoint. If anyone has some insight to share, it would be greatly appreciated! Stream video playback in Teams chats and channels is now inline, meaning that the video plays direct without any need to call the Stream browser client. It’s a good update that makes watching Stream videos a very seamless experience. It would be nice if Microsoft can improve some other integration points where Stream and Teams touch because some of the other integration features don't work so well. Cannot post Stream video in Teams
We've recorded a quick tutorial session with our colleagues in a Microsoft Teams team. The File is stored in the SharePoint library of the Team. Now I'd like to share that video with my colleagues using the Microsoft Teams Message extension (Stream). No chance to add the video with it. Is this Message extension not working any more with Stream (on SharePoint)? Thanks in advance
Video Preview/thumbnail when sharing videos: where is it?
Sharing internal videos in Teams chat and channels seems to result in nothing more than a link or file appearing (as apposed to a thumbnail or preview). Youtube seems to produce a nice preview but what about internal videos? Say I want colleagues to upload a selfie video direct from their phone. If they share as a file, we get nothing but the file icon (and no view stats). If they share via Stream, it's a little more complicated to upload (although we at least get stats from that) – but still, it just shows as a link. No preview or thumbnail. I know about the Stream tab and how Stream channels can be presented nicely there – but it doesn't solve the issue of videos being shared in the chat. What is the use and purpose of two ingest URL when it comes to encoder based events (MS Stream, Yammer or Teams encoder event) : We use AMS as a backend, here is what their documentation states on that (found here). Single encoder double-pushing to both primary and secondary URLs: The main purpose of this scenario is to provide more resiliency to network fluctuations and jitters. Some RTMP encoders don't handle network disconnects well. When a network disconnect happens, an encoder might stop encoding and then not send the buffered data when a reconnect happens. This causes discontinuities and data loss. Network disconnects can happen because of a bad network or maintenance on the Azure side. Primary/secondary URLs reduce the network problems and provide a controlled upgrade process. Each time a scheduled network disconnect happens, Media Services manages the primary and secondary disconnects and provides a delayed disconnect between the two. Encoders then have time to keep sending data and reconnect again. The order of the disconnects can be random, but there will always be a delay between primary/secondary or secondary/primary URLs. In this scenario, the encoder is still the single point of failure. The other redundancy scenarios listed there are not supported by stream. If the customer has sufficient bandwidth, a single encoder that can dual push (post encoding, not encoding twice), then dual pushing can provide help in some scenarios. However, when used incorrectly it can cause problems (e.g. two different encoded streams). In all cases we strongly encourage testing the setup being used including doing things like disconnecting, reconnecting as well as failing over to any backup encoder. It is also extra important that the encoders be configured for CBR (Constant bit rate) when dual pushing. Two different encoders must not be sending to primary and secondary at the same time. If a backup encoder is used, ideally it should be as close to the configuration of the primary as possible. But it should be tested thoroughly for fail over, and should take into account that updating one encoder or the other may cause failures in scenarios where previously it had succeeded. If the encoders are different, it may also be worth considering having a backup stream event that is separate. I hope this helps.. Cheers !!
Teams no longer automatically uploading to Stream
I have an E3 license, and up until a couple of months ago - whenever I would record a meeting in Teams it would automatically upload to Stream. It doesn't show an error, it just doesn't do it. The meeting recording appears in Teams once finished, in the meeting group chat. However, for me to get it into Stream, I have to download the file to my PC, upload it to Stream, and share with my company. Does anyone know why it has just stopped working? Hi, While there is plenty of documentation on the upcoming Teams recordings moving from Stream to OneDrive/SharePoint, I have some specific questions that I have yet to find definitive answers for. If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it! VTT caption files for narrated videos - we upload videos to Stream, download the auto-created VTT caption files, edit as needed, then use the VTTs in other deliverables. Will there be any point in this transition when we will not be able to do that? How do we access the VTT caption files from recordings stored in OneDrive and SharePoint? Streams has a video playback control that allows for playback speed. This same capability is not in Sharepoint, as far as I can tell. Which of the new repositories (OneDrive or Sharepoint) is the closest to what Streams has offered? We’ve made extensive use of downloading the transcripts from the streams transcript, as that has been a critical part of our workflow. Will we be able to still get verbatim transcripts and download these transcripts? Thank you in advance!Stream Integration within Personal Teamps App is not working for a couple of people
I've created a Personal Teams App with Teams App Studio. Simple SharePoint communication site with some Stream Videos included. For most of the people the app is working completely fine. But for some users (5%) the Stream videos cannot load and they get this error screen. If they click sign-in they are redirected to an error page. As soon as the users are testing the "Public Preview" Teams version, the app is working perfectly fine and all videos are loading. It looks like it's a problem with an "older" Teams app version. The other thing that I have in mind, that the user have to renew their authentication as soon as they login with the "Public Preview" version (including MFA).
Teams recording lost due to Microsoft Stream storage quota?
Hi Everyone! It happened to us that one day we noticed, that Microsoft Teams meeting recordings are not showing up in Microsoft Teams. Within 24 hours we found out that it was because of storage quota problems. My question is the following: If a recording is created in Teams while there is no Stream storage available is the recording lost? We bought additional storage since, and the recording is not showing in the video recording list. I would think that since the video is stored and converted in Azure, it should show up after storage problem is resolved. Has had anyone any similar experience in the past?
