Optimizing Microsoft 365 Licenses Using Behavior Data (E3/E1/F3)
Hi everyone, We are currently working on a Microsoft 365 license optimization initiative and would appreciate insights from the community and Microsoft experts. Our approach focuses on two main areas: (1) Revoking licenses for inactive users, and (2) Reviewing active users to ensure their assigned license (E3, E1, or F3) aligns with actual usage and collaboration needs. From a data perspective, we are leveraging Microsoft 365 usage signals such as Teams activity, Outlook email interactions, meetings, and SharePoint/OneDrive collaboration. While usage reports provide raw metrics, we are looking for guidance on how these signals should be interpreted and combined in a meaningful and fair way. Specifically, we would like to understand: (1) Which usage metrics best represent user collaboration behavior? (2) Are there any recommended thresholds or patterns that help distinguish light, standard, and heavy collaboration users to map E3, E1, or F3? Any best practices, references, or real-world experiences would be greatly appreciated. I'm sorry if this is the wrong forums to ask for. Automating CRUD operations in MS Places
Hi, Has anyone been able to automate CRUD operations in MS Places yet? Given that the Places API calls support user access tokens only currently and Application access tokens isn't yet supported? We were able to do Get operations using App tokens but when run anything to modify, For Ex: Create a building using Set-Placev3 cmdlet it gives error. When raised an MS ticket they confirmed that the calls doesn't support application tokens yet.. We have a showstopper kind of situation.Microsoft 365 Certification

Compliance licenses at tenant level
Hi, We are a small organization of about 200 employees, and we have following requirements. DLP policies configuration at Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint BYOD security Users should not be able to send files outside the org And so on as we evaluate We already have M365 Business Premium. However, after researching we figured out that M365 Business premium will alone not solve our requirements. May be compliance license will. We want to apply security policies at tenant level in our organization but definitely do not want every user to get licenses as this will be expensive for us and there is no requirement at all for our users. The question is, Is there a way to solve the above scenario?Math Assistant in OneNote M365 no longer calculates results
I’m a mathematics professor in higher education, and I’ve relied heavily on OneNote for Windows 10 — especially its Math Assistant feature — to support my teaching. While we teach at the university level, the mathematics involved is foundational: from basic first-degree equations to partial derivatives of multivariable functions, limits, definite and indefinite integrals, 2D graphing, and inequality plots. This isn’t advanced research mathematics — it’s core material for management and accounting students. In the previous version of OneNote, I could write an equation, click “Math,” and immediately get the final result. That was extremely helpful for classroom demonstrations and student self-checking. In the current version (OneNote M365), the “Math” button still appears, and it does solve simple equations — but it fails to graph more complex functions and is significantly slower than the previous version. Is Microsoft working to restore the ability to calculate final results and draw 2D graphs reliably, as the previous version did? This feature is essential for teaching and productivity.
