3 TopicsSharepoint columns sync with File Explorer view, or an alternative option
Hi all I'm more an admin person rather than IT, but have been asked to find a solution for one of our directors who prefers to open his documents using File Explorer over Sharepoint online. And before you ask, no he won't change his ways! I need to be able to set up File Explorer to filter/display/order (however you want to name it) project folders synced with Sharepoint according to whether they are: 1/ Active or Complete (status) 2/ under his name as project manager. I thought I had found the answer by adding columns to Sharepoint (see attached a screen shot below), but I have since discovered that those columns do not feed across to File Explorer. The only other solution I have is adding multiple layers of folders to Sharepoint. This will only complicate the library for other users so I am averse to implementing this. Is there a way of tagging or adding some form of metadata to folders that will pass between Sharepoint and File Explorer that we can use to then filter the view on his device? Any suggestions please and thank you.17KViews9likes22Commentssharepoint in file exporer
I have a Teams SharePoint site linked through in File Explorer. I've dropped a file in one of the SharePoint folders in File Explorer. However, it is not visible in Teams Files view (or in SharePoint Online). Conversely, the files that are in that folder are not viewable from File Explorer. This is the case with all the folders on this SharePoint site. Any ideas?858Views0likes1CommentIssues with SP Online mapped drives in File Explorer
Using the file explorer is widely preferred is widely preferred in our organisation - and we use WebDav to be able to access file repositories via file explorer. When trying to access SP Online mapped drives via File Explorer we have been getting intermittent error messages such as: "\\domain.sharepoint.com@SSL\DavWWWRoot\sites\... is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. A device attached to the system is not functioning" "Windows cannot access \\domain.sharepoint.com@SSL\DavWWWRoot\sites\... - Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose" Or sometimes no error message but the folder in File Explorer will just say "This folder is empty" (when it's not in reality). The issues are intermittent, it can be fine for a whole month and but then just be absolutely horrendous for two weeks. One thing I have picked up on is that these issues are network wide: so if I am experiencing the issue, 100% my colleagues also couldn't access at the same time. The issue is limited to just SP Online repositories, it works perfectly fine with SharePoint 2010 for example. Would appreciate any input.2.4KViews0likes0Comments
