Hello. I have a client who has about 10 users on Business Premium and would like to start using some DLP policies. They need all of the Office suite, so I'm guessing the lowest SKU they can go with is E3. My question is whether all 10 users would have to upgrade to E3 or can it just be the admin to create the policies and assign them to locations? we are planning to migrate our home drive to one drive for business. we are currently working on setting up policies. I have some questions on retention policies. Microsoft official file retention policy is 90+ days i believe. is there is any way we can increase it 2 years ? days to retain files after the user marked for deletion: i have set it up for 2 years. I want to change the file retention policy for 2 years . any advise will be appreciated.. We have a requirement to keep our terminated employees Exchange AND OneDrive data for a period of 'at least' seven years, with the option of it being open ended. But I have a few questions about the differences between the two options. 1. What is the difference between creating a "Forever" Retention Policy for OneDrive and Exchange data. versus using a Litigation Hold? And can a Litigation Hold be used for OneDrive as well, or is that only for Exchange mailboxes? 2. Where does the terminated user's mailbox and OneDrive data reside, once the policy/hold it applied and I attempt to remove their account from the tenant completely? In other words, where would I go in the M365 portal, to see where the mailbox and OneDrive data are being held? 2. I read about In-Place Hold, Litigation Hold and today about Retention Policies. In the latest article I read (Overview of retention policies) it is written that … There are several other features that have previously been used to retain or delete content in Office 365. Hi everyone, Can someone confirm what retention policies are available to users of Office 365 E1 without purchasing other services? Specifically, I would like to be able to recover deleted emails from mailboxes. However, person A from MS says that if i set up retention policy in office 365 admin , this is all I need - though reports online say i need E3 for this to work or even E5. Person B (from MS) says that there are no retention options for plan E1 without purchasing additional services. Can someone give a clear answer as to whether there are any, any retention options available for E1 that i can take advantage of ? What options are available to me ? Dear, In my environment I have a retention policy in the Secure & Compliance center for Exchange Online mail. Now I have an service account that had a mailbox in the past, but not needed anymore and the service account still need to exist in the environment for some reason. If I open the user in de admin portal a message appear: "Exchange: An unknown error has occurred. Refer to correlation ID: xxx-xx-xxx". Now I got the error message with command; (Get-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName domain@domain.com).errors[0].ErrorDetail.objecterrors.errorrecord.ErrorDescription Get-MsolUser -HasErrorsOnly | Format-Table DisplayName,UserPrincipalName,@{Name="Error";Expression={($_.errors[0].ErrorDetail.objecterrors.errorrecord.ErrorDescription)}} -AutoSize "Exchange can't disable the mailbox, because it is on In-Place Hold." What I've done for trouble shooting: 1. Give the service account back the license, exclude him from the retention policy, wait till the policy is success and remove the license. No luck. 2. Re provision mailbox with "Redo-MsolProvisionuser -ObjectID". No luck. 3. Follow this great guide: https://masterandcmdr.com/2020/04/24/cannot-delete-a-mailbox-with-retention-policies-enabled/ No luck In the guide on step 3, they are speaking over a inactive mailbox. My service account is not inactive, it still exist. I just want to delete the mailbox for this service account. I hope anyone can help me out. Hi community, I am in the process of setting up a data retention program for my organisation, and seek some advice on how to manage mailbox once a user leaves the organisation. For information: We are in a hybridised Exchange environment (Exchange Online and EX2016). All users are assigned Enterprise E3 licences. What we want to achieve:When users leave the organisation, we want to automatically convert the user mailboxes to inactive mailboxes, and then retain the users inactive mailboxes for 1 year (that is 1 year after the time they left and were deleted). We want to achieve this automatically for all users, with having to manage it on a user by user basis. I know that in order to convert the mailbox to an inactive mailbox, a hold or retention policy must be applied to the user BEFORE the user is delete, otherwise the mailbox moves to soft delete stage and is deleted after 30 days, but I am not sure how to configure the hold/retention policy in order to a) ensure the mailbox moves to inactive mailbox, and b) ensure it gets deleted 1 years after the user left (and the mailbox became an inactive mailbox) Is this even possible? Is there a way to permanently remove content when it has retention applied? The scenario for this is that the customer has sensitive information that is not allowed to be uploaded to M365 but has been uploaded to M365 in error and now needs to be permanently removed. An example would be a document in a SharePoint site collection with a retention policy applied. Is there a way to delete and remove the document from the preservation hold library? My understanding is that retention is site collection scoped so removing the retention for the whole site collection to be able to permanently delete one item doesn't seem viable. Hello, We have separate retention policies at M365 SCC: for SharePoint, OneDrive, O365 Groups and Teams. They all worked correctly long time ago. Recently we noticed the following error for only 2 of them : "Policy cannot be deployed to the content source due to a temporary Office 365 datacenter issue. The current policy is not applied to any content in the source, so there's no impact from the blocked deployment. To fix this issue, please try redeploying the policy." Here are examples: Has anyone seen these errors? What does it means and what is the impact? Example situation: When I tried to exclude a site location from the SharePoint retention policy -> the site appeared at the Excluded sites list [and 1 hour the status of the policy was On (Pending)], but finally the status changed to:On (Errors), giving me only the option to notify the support: After then, when I triedto delete the excluded site, I still have the error "This site has a compliance policy set to block deletion". So, it appears the policy is not working as expected. In addition: Before this error to appear - there was a global issue posted by MS: "SP196954 -Can't sync policies" (Start time: November 26, 2019 1:00 PM, End time: December 1, 2019 6:37 AM). But our error appeared before this incident to be posted in Service Health, and continues after the incident resolution by MS, till today. Any ideas why this happen and how to be fixed?
