I have received complaints from users who are becoming confused when they find their own work OneDrive files in the SharePoint search results. The either worry someone else can see their confidential files, or simply don't understand the concept of checking the URL. Is there an easy way to remove these results from the default search? Additionally, are there any reasons we should not restrict these results?18Views0likes0CommentsSave for Later - within Document Libraries
I know that two weeks ago, I was able to go to a Document Library and use an icon and/or select "Save for Later" in a menu to indicate documents that would then show up if you went to OneDrive. This was a feature that was going to solve a huge amount of issues for end users who do not want to use SharePoint and continue to use network drives. However, that option has appeared to disappear across all of my SharePoint Online Sites. The only place I see a "save for later" is on pages from News Posts, which is not going to help. I've found posts about this feature (https://office365itpros.com/2019/12/11/save-for-later-sharepoint-onedrive/), but I haven't seen anything about this feature being removed from use or something needing to be required to turn it on. What's going on with Save for Later on documents in Document Libraries and how do I get this back ASAP?10KViews0likes14CommentsProblems with sharepoint synchronization
hello!! I'm having some synchronization problems related to SharePoint. At my work, we use a very heavy spreadsheet, with about 50~80mb, where several people work at the same time via SharePoint... This usually causes some expected problems such as delays in calculations or fatal errors, but recently there has been a specific error that has been happening sometimes. During the week, one of the 6 people working on the spreadsheet can simply become a "ghost". They can see who is online in the spreadsheet working with them and the others can also see them online... But any and all changes they make will be visible only to them, not only in the desktop version of the application but in the browser version as well, as if they were working on a local version of the file, but online... We tried to do some things like: * clear the %temp% folder * clear the specific Excel folder in %appdata%/microsoft/excel * check for files that need attention in "Open new file -> Documents that need attention" * Unsynchronize the Excel application OneDrive/SharePoint from the computer, delete all local files and sync again * Change the Excel cache option in "Options -> Save -> Cache" to delete every time the file is closed and also clear the cache But none of this works, the only thing that seems to work to fix the error for the specific person is for someone who is not having this problem to create a copy of the Excel file in SharePoint and rename it... After that, the person's changes appear again for the rest, fixing the error. The worst part of this problem is that it has no indication or warning. Recently, members of my team lost days of work because they had become "ghosts" and their changes were not being saved, only when indicated by other members who were also working on the same spreadsheet or constantly checking the Excel version via browser can you be sure that your changes are being saved. I would like to know if anyone has experienced this and how to solve this error Thank you for your attention!!105Views0likes0CommentsExternal Users Blocked from Downloading Files – Conditional Access Policy Stuck or Misbehaving?...
We recently updated and added several Conditional Access policies, including one that blocks downloading, printing, and syncing from unmanaged devices. This policy was initially tested with a small group of 2-3 users. However, we noticed that when employees share an external link, external recipients can log in but cannot download files. They see a yellow banner stating that "downloading, printing, or syncing is blocked etc." We have since disabled related Conditional Access policies and waited the required 24 hours for changes to take effect. Additionally, Microsoft Support has been involved for three days but has not yet resolved the issue. Any suggestions? Its an only cloud environment135Views0likes6CommentsLooking for an Microsoft Expert for on call help
We are a small company with employees in Sydney and Canberra, everyone works from home and there’s about 10 of us. We currently use Microsoft Teams, Outlook and Sharepoint but we have a growing list of Microsoft issues. Can anyone recommend an IT expert who helps businesses with various Microsoft App issues over the phone? It would be handy to find someone that you could call when an issue arises and who could teach the staff how to fix that issue over the phone when needed? I know of Geek2u but i'm hoping for more of an 'over the phone' kind of service with an individual who specialises in Microsoft systems. Kind regards Kate20Views0likes1CommentSharePoint Home page using Chrome Browser keep requesting for credential.
Each time I launch Chrome Browser to access my SharePoint Default Home page, It prompt for credentials. Once i close the browser and launch it again, the same popups. Edge browser works fine... Action already taken..... 1. I have added the SharePoint URL to Chrome trusted site. 2. I have allowed cookies for SharePoint in the browser This is really frustrating. Any Help will be much appreciated. Chrome Browser shouldn't request for my credentials again because I have already done that. Hi SPO Brain Trust, Has anyone been able to work around a solution to programmatically remove oversharing links (from content level) from SharePoint sites and OneDrives as opposed to using 3rd party tooling? Very keen to hear your thoughts on this as we're looking at manually remediating these from our environment. Thank you!118Views0likes1CommentEmbedding PPT requires Sharepoint login
I am attempting to embed a PowerPoint presentation into a page on my Weebly website. It is successful, in that I can see the PPT presentation after I publish the page, however anyone other than me attempting to view the PPT presentation on my webpage is presented a SharePoint login prompt. I spent a long time working with MSFT support who couldn't figure out the problem so they sent me here. I am able to generate a link to the document that I can send to people, and I can paste a hypertext link to the file on my website which, once selected, will open the presentation, but I cannot embed the PPT presentation w/o the sharepoint login prompt. I am trying to do this because when the presentation is embedded, people can simply view it as a presentation on my website rather than having to open the presentation in PowerPoint online, then go into presentation mode, and go through it that way (I don't want the viewer to have to know how to do all of that.) Thank you for any suggestions. (I ultimately found Powershow.com which may end up being my solution if necessary.)20KViews0likes17CommentsFixing Oversharing links in SharePoint Online
Hi SharePoint Brain Trust, We are currently focused on addressing oversharing within our SharePoint environment. Previously, we had "Anyone" links enabled, but we have since upgraded the sharing settings to "Specific users only." However, we still need to remediate items that were previously shared too broadly. My question to the group is: Are there any native tools available for this task, aside from SharePoint Advanced Management (SAM)? If not, which third-party tools have you used or would you recommend for managing oversharing in SharePoint? Thank you! Kev209Views0likes1Comment
