9 TopicsAuthenticator app not working on new phone - old phone with app is gone
Hello Tech Community, I have trouble with my email (hotmail) account. About 12 months ago I downloaded and activated the authenticator app after having hackers trying to enter my hotmail account. A few months ago I changed my phone and I have never been asked for second factor authentication until today (so I did not pay much attention to it as I could see it. The phone number attached is old and have no access to it and that device is long gone too). BIG PROBLEM! I have the app on my new phone but it is not linked to my account (and cannot do a Cloud Recovery). If I try to do anything with my account (forward emails or change anything) it asks me for the authenticator approval/code (that I do not have access to). I am scared about doing something that will log me out of my email (which I still have access to) but cannot make any changes nor log out. Please help. Can I deactivate the authenticator app somehow? or re-set it-up to work again? Can I migrate all my emails to a new account so I do not lose years of information if I get logged out? Can I set the forwarding emails option without having to pass by second facto authentication? Looking forward to hearing from you wise community, Thank you21KViews0likes7CommentsO365 Email Migration to Another Tenant while Deferring Migration of Sharepoint files
Hi, This is the context: ChildCompany has O365 and it has an Azure AD in hybrid mode synchronizing to a on-prem AD server. They have an internal domain ChildCompany.com, and an external domain ChildCompany.com where they also receive and send email using O365. ParentCompany is going absorb the ChildCompany some time in next year, and I was asked about the integration options. According to this https://download.microsoft.com/download/b/a/1/ba19dfe7-96e2-4983-8783-4dcff9cebe7b/microsoft-365-tenant-to-tenant-migration.pdf I could do a phased migration, where the end state is that they decomm their onprem AD and that they only use our ParentCompany systems. The business requirement is to start their integration with Email, and then in later phases do the Sharepoint integration as that requires way more analysis on their data sources, as they also have wikis and many other on prem legacy stuff. They are less than 50 users, so I can use Quest migration tools for the email part, but I wonder what needs to happen in what order. This is what I have in mind: Migrate their current O365 into our ParentCompany Office 365 subscription, so that they can continue logging in into their domain joined windows machines using childCompany.co, so they start using ParentCompany.com email addresses, but the problem then is how can they continue using their sharepoint and onedrive resources associated with the Azure and local domain at ChildCompany.com? This is more or less what I have in mind, for the intermediate step, the cutover: Child Company ParentCompany --------------------- ---------------- On-Prem | MS Cloud: | MS Cloud: ---------------|----------------------|-------------- Local AD (ADFS)| Azure Subscription | Azure Sub | Azure AD | Azure AD |--------------------- |--------------------- | O365 Sub -> | O365 Sub | Exchange mailboxes-> | Exchange mailboxes | Sharepoint? -> | ??? | -------------------- |--------------------- I wonder how could it be possible to defer the sharepoint and onedrive migration, so that the child company users can still work on their sharepoint files using their normal auth methods, while disabling childcompany.com as MX so they start using ParentCompany.com mailboxes. Is that even possible? Would make more sense to try to migrate everything at once? That is way more work, but I'm weighting my options.930Views0likes6CommentsFull Migration to MS365
Hello everyone, I'm reaching out for some insights concerning a recent transition we've embarked on. Initially, our business operated with 10 users on Windows Server Essentials 2016, utilizing SSLVPN for remote access via RDP for remote users. All ran smoothly until about a month ago when we took the step to incorporate MS365 Business Premium, coinciding with a slight increase in users, now totaling 12. Given our team's familiarity with the new system and the company's demanding schedule, we decided to phase in the transition. Thus far, I've successfully migrated our emails to MS365 and integrated Teams. Currently, the team still relies on VPN for accessing shared drives. However, we aim to pivot to a setup where access to shared folders is governed via SharePoint, but exclusively for managed devices while blocking all other access points. All our computers are AD-registered. The goal is a full migration to the cloud: transitioning shared folders to SharePoint, user profiles to OneDrive for Business, and utilizing Intune for comprehensive desktop management. I've considered employing a third-party tool, specifically ForensiT, for user migration. Before moving forward, I'd appreciate any feedback or alternative suggestions you might have. Ultimately, we'd like to retire the current server and SSL VPN setup. Thank you for your time and guidance.590Views0likes1CommentTenant to Tenant migrations - User switch on client
I will plan a tenant migration. I tried to recreate this with test accounts, everything worked for the tenant to tenant migration. The switch for the user to the client is less clear for me. As soon as everything is on the new tenant, the user has to register again. What's the best order after logging on Windows? Unlink old Onedrive account an add the new one Log off Teams an Log in Create new Outlook profile an add the email from the new tenant an register outllok (for office license) open Word, Excel, PP and Log in for Office register an link onedrive? As i saw aad registered has no influence on the task above Hence my question: How are the easiest steps to switch the user to the new tenant? Maybe important. The domain is also contained in the new tenant4.3KViews0likes6CommentsSeeking advise for Migration On-prem to Office 365

Hey guys, we have one user object which seems not to sync anymore. Some days ago the sync was fine for the mailbox marketing@contoso.com Then we migrated the mailbox from OnPrem to EOL. Now we recognized that the default onmicrosoft email address changed, it is now marketing1234@contoso.onmicrosoft.com I wondered about it so I added marketing@contoso.onmicrosoft.com and marketing1234@contoso.onmicrosoft.com OnPrem. I hoped it would sync and afterwards I can remove the unwanted address. The AAD Connect shows no errors, the user object is still in the OU which is activated for sync. What would be the smoothest way to fix this? Kind regards, woelkiSolved1.4KViews0likes4CommentsOffice 365 Migration to another tennant
We have an aquisition for another company we need to move into our tenant. They currently have 365 as well us- tenant 1 with companya.com email addresses their - tenant 2 companyb.com email addresses Can we have say 10 users at a time connect to tenant 1 but send/receive as companyb.com. ie, we set the spf record and fwd their mail in tenant 2 to tenant 1. Maybe some trickery w/ adding their companyb.com as a non-internet upn, setting spfs and fwd their tenant mailboxes to our tenant. Can't be the 1st person to do this, so looking for advice.1KViews0likes1CommentMerging on prem domain with cloud domain to manage in Azure AD
Hi, We created a O365 tenant with a domain "abcd.edu" and assigned all our users credentials online (azure AD) because we were not ready to migrate the on-prem maiboxes which are on another domain abcd.ac.in. We are now considering an express migration of all the on prem (abcd.ac.in) accounts to the cloud and ultimately use azure ad as source of authority. Once we are in the cloud, we would like to use the abcd.ac.in upn for all users and either merge or retire the abcd.edu domain. We would ideally like to merge it in someway to avoid recreating all the other resources including teams with the new UPN. We have adequate licenses for both usernames to coexist for a while. Any thoughts or resources I can read?1.6KViews0likes5CommentsOffice 365 Migration of Service accounts
We are in the process of migrating our users to Office 365, and we are getting down to the point were we will migrate service accounts. Some of these service accounts have access permissions to other mailboxes to do custom tasks. I am having a hard time wrapping my head around how these service accounts will authenticate in a post migrated world. We have federated accounts, so we cant just open our application and change the email address username and password in the app can we? I may be wrong though since the app is on prem it may still auth to AD somehow? Options Ithought of: Do we have to mail remove their properties on premises and create cloud only mail accounts and reassign permissions then reconfigure our applications? Add a new UPN, Put the service account in a non federated domain then update the application with the new username? Any other options out there people can think of?4.1KViews0likes4Comments
