There is a serious bug in the 32-bit kernel releases (x86) of Windows 10 22H2 (though older versions, such as 21H2 or 21H1 may also be affected; I have not tested). I was doing some test-installs of the latest 22H2 release, using install-media built from the Media Creation Tool. (The version that this tool creates is currently Build 19045.2006). To reproduce this bug, do the following: 1 Install the x86 version of Windows 10 Version 22H2 onto a PC, or inside a VM (e.g. Home or Pro) 2 After the Desktop appears, go to Start > Settings > Apps > Optional Features 3 Click "Windows Fax & Scan" in the list, then the "Uninstall" button 4 After the uninstall is finished, and "Reboot required" appears, restart the PC or VM session 5 During the next boot-up, it will first go to this screen briefly: "Updating your system 0%" But will then go to a blue-screen with this error: Stop code: KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED What failed: NTFS.SYS 6 After a reboot, the blue-screen will appear again, then after the next reboot Windows will go to the "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen 7 The only way to repair the Windows install is to use a System Restore point, should one exist I have been able to replicate this issue on ALL x86 kernel installs of Windows 10 22H2 I have tested, but the 64-bit (x64, AMD64) kernel versions are unaffected. I have no ARM devices to test. Needless to say, this should be treated as critical as this is easily reproduceable, and uses only built-in options supplied with Windows, but leaves systems completely unbootable afterwards. I have a dev build in my system but no features greater than 20H2. How can I enable all the latent features? Does anybody knows how to enable A/B features in the dev preview builds of Windows 10 using regedit or other tool, which are otherwise disabled? There are no taskbar previews, no dark search bar, no dark splashScreen etc. I want to enable these all. Inthis build they have been delievered but not visible in my system. Can anyone help me activate those features?655Views0likes1CommentMicrosoft - Please Stop Removing/Adding Windows Insider Features based on the User's IP Address
Microsoft - Please Stop Removing/Adding Windows Insider Features based on the User's IP Address Location (NOT related to the slow feature rollout) I've been a helpful Windows Insider member since 2015 but recently it's been very annoying to be an Insider. It's been happening since the beginning of Windows 10 Insider 20H1 builds, Here's what happens: When I'm connected to the Internet with my ISP IP Address, I have access to the new features introduced in the latest Windows insider for example the old Cortana is gone and replaced by the New Cortana 2 beta. another example is that in the Calculator app, there is a new small button added called "Keep on top", last example, at the bottom right corner of the Windows (taskbar), when I click on the time and clock, it brings up the Calendar and time and at the bottom of that small window i can add an event or reminder without opening the Calendar app. so these are All new features. Now, If I use a VPN (for whatever personal reason that millions of people use VPNs) - (VPNs like Windscribe, Thunnelbear, or any custom OpenVPN) to connect to other countries like EU east and west, Asia, Middle East etc, those new Windows insider features that I explained above go away, they literally disappear. in the Cortana example, the old Cortana comes back again and the New Cortana 2 beta disappears. in the Calculator example, that little "keep on top" button disappears from the Calculator app. in the Calendar example, that area where user can add reminder or event without opening the Calendar app goes missing and disappears so If i click on the "add reminder or event", it brings up the Calendar app instead. It's super annoying. Please stop doing it. once a user is eligible to receive those new features as part of the slow rollout then let them Have and Keep those new features. Don't remove them when the user connects to a VPN and gets another IP address from another country. It doesn't change Anything. it's STILL THE SAME user, the SAME computer, the SAME PC. there is absolutely NO point in giving those features to the user, then remove them whenever you want, and then give those features back Again when VPN goes off or switches to a certain country. Half of these changes and feature removals/disappearances happen without a computer restart. as if all of these Windows components are fluid and actively controlled by someone else. the Other half of the features such as the Cortana removal do need a system restart. it's really messy.. There is obviously a country restriction here and a blacklist exists on the Microsoft servers, just not sure how big it is. I really need some official answer on this problem. Thank you!
