I think when you create a Yammer group it now creates an O365 Group and Site, but that Group is not accessible from Groups hub.

When you create a Team in MS Teams it creates a O365 Group which you CAN see in Groups Hub.

For us, we created both a Yammer Group and a Teams with the same name, "Project XYZ" and we have two file libraries, two membership lists, etc.

The purpose is different, Yammer one is for whole company and Teams is for an small working group, but I have to say it does get confusing. There are many flavors of Groups.

Outlook initiated Group

Yammer initiated Group (which does not show up in Outlook)

Teams initiated Group, or Teams added to an exisitng O365 Group

Distribution List promotoed into O365 Group

I think the only one that is "different" is the Yammer based group and the only way to "get to" that is through Yammer.

It seems there is no way to get a group to have both Yammer and Teams (which may be fine, just understanding).

No specific quesiton, but let me know if any of the above is incorrect.

Thanks,

Rob.

Yes correct. However I'm not really sure what you are referring to as the 'Groups Hub' ?

Oh sorry, that is kind of how I have been thinkinig about it, it is just Outlook Web clicked on the Groups tab.

We have some bookmarks that go to file areas, from there I click on Conversations, and I see all my Groups on the left....  so to me it is like a Groups Hub, which I guess is wishful thinking to have something like Planner Hub but for Groups.

The theory would be :-

Outlook will show groups relevant to Outlook,
Teams will show groups relevant to Teams,
Sharepoint will show groups relevant to SharePoint,
Yammer will show groups relevant to Yammer
....

It's just doesn't entirely feel that way, the dependencies and exclusions between products creates what feels like two variants.

What do you mean by

Sharepoint will show groups relevant to SharePoint,

Is that the Outlook Web, or will Groups show up actually in Sharepoint somewhere?
