Yammer Suggested People function, where is it coming from?

Occasional Contributor

Hi,

I trying to figure out where the suggested people function is coming from. I see its https://www.yammer.com/api/v1/suggestions.json, but the documentation doesn't state the resource its pulling its data from.

Where does it pull the suggestions from and secondly, can we influence this.

Does someone has any idea?

Thanks!

Can't say I know where it's coming from, but I can tell you what I've learned. The first name listed is an active user in your Yammer directory. The second name is always a pending user. Yammer thinks it's being helpful, because you might encourage this person to complete the sign up process. But most often, it's a misspelled email address, distribution list, or something similar.

Also, following people is fairly useless in Yammer.

Hi Dianna,

Thanks for your response. When I know more, I will post it here.

Adding to what @Diane Kennedy wrote above check out this thread where @Tom Kretzmer pointed out a few steps to clean out the suggested users. I'm also providing a bit of info over there -> https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Yammer/Delete-Pending-Accounts/m-p/49817
