Word Template

Copper Contributor

Hello,

I have created a word document template with specific style, formats, margins, table spacings, figure caption spacings etc. for people to use.

Is there a way to lock in these styles/formats so that no matter what people type or copy and paste into the document they will always come out the way the template is designed, e.g. if a table is created the spacing is 2pt or the font is always the correct size/style etc. The reason for this is because even though these guidelines are set out, when a document comes back to review there might be slight deviations from the original guidelines.

Thank you in advance.

Is this Word for Windows? You can try editing restrictions. Click Review > Restrict Editing. Select "Limit formatting to a selection of styles" and use the Settings link to specify which styles should be allowed. Click OK to confirm the settings. Finally, click Yes, Start Enforcing Protection to "lock" the document. You can specify a password if you wish.
