word documents with borders unable to remove

All previous word documents open with a border that I didn't apply, or I applied in error.  The border doesn't print.

The border shrinks my text info on the page.  I tried removing the border using the design tab with no success.  I'm working in dark mode and wondered if removing it would change the border look, but I'm unsure how to proceed.

I believe you are describing text boundaries. If you are running Word for Windows, you can turn them off via File > Options > Advanced.

In Word for Mac, the corresponding option would be in Word Preferences.
