Search and replace in word mac doesnt work as expected

Hi guys

Support couldnt help. Maybe someone else has a solution

I wrote << and went into find and replace to convert << to «. Instead of « Word makes it „
Its the german „ instead of the swiss «

I would expect the result to replace as i wrote it in the replace box.

Typically, Word uses the typographical quotation marks of the language defined for the text. 

You can temporarily disable the automatic application of typographical quotation marks before you perform the Find & Replace.
