Outline Numbering and Indents...UGGGHHHHH!!

Hello,

To begin, MS Word on Windows 11 is among my least favorite Apps to use, so I'll admit to having an attitude about the App. Word behaves much better on the Mac.

The issue I'm having is with outline numbering and indents on large documents. I set the styles with the outline numbering and indents I need. I apply said styles to a paragraph or two. I move on to the next paragraph, and the outline numbering and indent I just worked on whacks out.

I fix the now whacked outline numbering and indent. I manage to move forward a few paragraphs, even a page or two, with seemingly no trouble. I scroll back up to check the document and the outline numbering and indents above are whacked again.

It's nothing but whack-a-mole, and it's very frustrating, especially on long documents. I ultimately have to cheat by not having all the indents at the same level throughout the document.

Is this a Word installation issue? Is this a Windows 11 issue? Something is not right. It should not be this difficult to apply outline numbering form to a document.

Indents in numbered styles must be controlled via the Multilevel List dialog box, level by level. WOW!!

You are a total lifesaver! Thank you very much. The directions take a deep dive into setting after setting, but it worked! Without more training I would not have figured out how to set the list and numbering styles.
