The latest update removed the check for passive sentences. We use this all the time. There are other aspects of the grammer checker removed too. I'm not sure why features are being removed?
Microsoft, please re-instate this!!

Hi Rob, I found the following on the site below:
"Note: July 19, 2016: When accessing the File > Options > Proofing > When correcting spelling and grammar in Word > Writing Style menu option in Word 2016, Grammar & Style is missing. We are aware of this issue and we plan to fix it in a coming update. When the update is available, we'll post here with information about how to get it."

I hope that is right, but i have also seen articles that they are removing the Passive Voice checking, and maybe already have from the Mac version. The thread linked below was originally a Mac Word thread, but I think some of the posters were commentiong about Word 2016 in general.
So I hope it does come back, but I am a little skeptical that your post is not specifically talking about the passive voice checking. We will see!
Rob.
PS - i marked your solution "Accept as Solution" and it put a big box saying it was a Microsoft Verified Answer, although neither of us work for Microsoft I don't think!

The Grammar & Style options, including Passive Voice checking, were made available to Office Insiders (First Release for Current Channel) in version 16.0.7167.2015 on July 25. The announcement is in the thread at office_2016-word/checking-style-in-proofing-in-word-2016 in the Answers forum.
I don't know the schedule for release to the full Current Channel, but I expect it will be before the end of August.
