Is it possible to launch Word using a custom URI scheme without bringing up recovered documents?

Copper Contributor

I am launching word using a custom URI scheme.

I am using links of the format ms-word:ofe|u|myurl

If the user shutdown unsafely and Word thinks it should try to recover a document, the next time a user launches word using a custom URI scheme, any "recovered" documents launch as well - this means users are seeing more documents than expected appear and they are confused.

Can I prevent this?

While it might make your users very unhappy with you, you would need to disable the saving of AutoRecover information by unchecking the box for Save AutoRecover information every___ minutes under File>Options>Save.

A better plan might be to automate the starting of Word and before having your document open, determine if there are any documents open and if so, display a message asking the user to close any open documents.
