How to generate list of tables and figures

Dear all, I have been able to generate and list of tables and figures but my problem is the numbering. Instead of showing 

Table 1: How to copy

Table 2: Adding new field and so on to say Table 12, 

i want it to be like the following when generated

Table 1.1: How to copy

Table 1.2: Number of males

Table 1.3: Number of females

Table 2.1: Adding new field

Table 2.2: Working on text and so on to say Table 12,

If the first digit in "Table #.#" should reference the current heading number (at a certain level), you need to set up so-called chapter numbering for your captions. Click the Numbering button in the Insert > Caption dialog box.
