Thanks for the reply. I am able to do the drop cap when it's just normal text on a page, but I'd like to do it also for text that is within 2-column, like I see in your screen shot. But when in that situation the drop cap option at the top is darkened, like it's not available. Is there a trick, or do I have the wrong software?
Which version of Word are you running? If it is the full version under Windows you should definitely be able to insert a drop cap even in multiple columns, as seen in my screen shot.
Note that you can't add a drop cap inside a text box or shape.
