In the last few weeks, if I have Track Changes and Comments on the same text, the Comments are now hidden. The only way to reveal them is to switch to Simple Markup.
I am an editor who is trying to communicate with authors -- I need them to see both the change (Track Changes) and the reason for the change (Comment) at the same time.
If a default setting has changed that I can fix, then I would love to know about it, but I suspect this is a new "feature" (or a bug caused by one) -- if so, please fix this!
Thanks

This has been reported elsewhere, in the Microsoft Community forum, as well. You can report it to Microsoft via the Feedback facility in your version of Word.
As a workaround, you should be able to view and edit the comments in the Reviewing Pane (Revisions Pane).

@Stefan_BlomI have reported it through the Feedback form, but that does not seem to produce results (or, if it does, they do not happen quickly).
It is true that the reviewing pane will let people view the Comments and the Track Changes next to each other, but it is certainly not a useful tool, especially when trying to communicate with authors.
Glad to see it's been reported elsewhere -- hopefully this is fixed quickly!

It is difficult to tell how soon a fix will be provided. Generally, Microsoft does not release that type of information publicly. It is also not publicly known how Microsoft prioritizes bugs.
That said, reporting issues is important. 🙂
