Windows Server 2025 an Nanoserver

Copper Contributor

Hello everyone,
Windows Server 2025 is already heading in the right direction.
Especially in the production environment where you still have to be completely self-sufficient without a connection to the cloud.
The only thing missing is that you can install Windows Nanoserver 2025 again as a VM with local domain connection for ASP.NET and services with .NET8.

Greetings
Michael

Hello,

I completely agree with your points. The evolution of Windows Server 2025 is indeed commendable. Also, the ability to be self-sufficient in a production environment without a cloud connection is a significant aspect.

Like you, I also strongly advocate for the inclusion of the NanoServer edition as VM in Windows Server 2025. The NanoServer has always been a robust and efficient option for specific infrastructure scenarios and reinstating it would be a step forward.

Moreover, the NanoServer edition provides an ideal environment for microservices. Its lightweight nature and smaller attack surface make it perfect for running applications in a more isolated and secure manner. This would be particularly beneficial for ASP.NET and services with .NET8.

Best regards
Michael
