Windows server 2016 wsus

Copper Contributor

Hi,

our DC windows server 2016 have always updated by connecting to our wsus. In the last few days the DCs have not been able to register with the WSUS. Making an analysis we noticed that the servers try to download updates not from the wsus but from the microsoft site. In the server policies we have always configured the connection to the wsus and also in the registry keys the pointing is towards the wsus.

The error during the update is : "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80244017)"

Reporting Events is:

Do you have any suggestions to solve the problem? We have tried them all.
Thank you

Are you seeing this error message in the server or in the client?
Try follow steps to troubleshoot and fix issues with Windows Update, take a look at:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/troubleshoot-problems-updating-windows-188c2b0f-10a7-d72...
We have the message on the windows server 2016 that is trying to contact wsus on another windows server 2016 .
We performed many debugging actions including the suggested one.
We stopped the windows update services deleted the registry keys and deleted the software distribution folder without success.
Do you have access to a Windows 10 or Windows 11 device?
If yes, open start and search for feedback and open the Feedback Hub app and file a bug report and in the list select Windows Server and attach log files.
Try connect to the Windows Update directly and try download and install the latest update and restart your PC and see if the problem persist?
Many thanks for your suggestion . We cannot connect our server to internet . We must use wusus only. Regards
Sending feedback would be helpful and in case there is an urgent issue, you may contact the Microsoft Support.
We have sent feedback but have not received any response yet. Microsoft support only gives us the information we find on the internet. For a detailed analysis of the problem you have to pay.
Our problem is quite urgent and serious as the servers that do not update are domain controllers and it is very risky not to install updates.
You might not receive direct feedback from Microsoft when you share your issue in the Feedback Hub app but the Windows team will review it.
You may post your question on:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/products/
This forum is for technical issues and someone might be able to help you there.
Many thanks. I will try now.
Welcome, hope someone would be able to help you in the forum.
