Windows Server 2012 R2 Server Manager Shortcut

Copper Contributor

Hi All,

I just got create a new virtual machine of windows server 2012 R2. When every time I log in through remote, the server manager won't startup it showed me the error: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel''.

I have attachment below the server manager won't open whenever I click it. but it will accessible if I go through right-clicking on 'This PC' and click 'Manage'. Is there also to fix because I want to always show up every time I logged in to the server.

Hi @spacegabx

The server manager application is located in c:\windows\system32\ServerManager.exe - can you check that the file is in the correct location? Does it open if you double click on it.

The shortcut should have the following setup to find the server manager:

Target: %systemroom%\system32\ServerManager.exe

Start in: %windir%\system32

Can you check and see if everything is in the right place?

Thanks,

Hello Hidmov,

Everything works fine when I click on it. but I have noticed that the launcher is causing the error (see attached link). it's the same error as I'm referring it to.
