Windows Server 2012 R2 “RDP error”

Frequent Visitor
Hello there

We have got windows server 2012 R2 with RDS installed. When client tries to do the Remote Desktop connection time the server, they receive the repititive error saying “An internal error has occurred” before they are finally allowed to log in.

This happens to only this server no matter from where we tried to do the RDC to that server.
Is there any solution to get rid of the error.?

Hello, are you still facing the internal error when use RDP? It's kind of difficult to find the cause of the error. We can take security of RDP into consideration. You can fix the issue by verifying RDP settings, disabling NLA, changing the security of RDP.
Change Security of RDP in Group Policy Editor
Step 1. Press Win + R and enter "gpedit.msc" to open Edit Group Policy.
Step 2. Navigation:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Security

Step 3. Locate “ Require use of specific security layer for remote connections” and double click it.
Step 4. After “double click”, Choose “enabled” and select “RDP” in the security layer.
Security Layer
Step 5. Finally hit OK.

Of course, if you want to know more info, look at https://www.anyviewer.com/how-to/remote-desktop-an-internal-error-has-occured-server-2016-0007.html

Works for me! Thanks!
