Server can be seen but not the domain

Im trying to get an active directory domain working on my home network, but my server "ChazServer" can be seen but not my domain "Charcoal.local". The server is connected to a secondary router in bridged mode. (attached is a diagram thing for easier understanding)

EDIT - i removed the switch for a direct connection to the second router, still no change.

I'd check that domain controller and problem member are not multi-homed. Check that domain controller and problem member both have the static ip address of DC listed for DNS and no others such as router or public DNS. Check that a route exists between networks and that required ports are open.
