Server 2019 -delay restart after updates.

Copper Contributor

I've recently spun up several new Server 2019 Azure VMs.

On our Server 2016, after installing updates I have the option to delay the restart until a specific Date Time, this is very convenient as I'm managing machines in different time zones and running applications which are in almost constant use.

On the Server 2019 I don't seem to have this option - I just have to leave it to restart "outside Active hours".

I really need to be able to send out an email saying Server X will restart at 6am on Sunday morning but at the moment the only option seems to be for me to run the update and then click the Restart now button early Sunday morning which isn't a great option for me!

At the moment it seems my only option is to Automate updates for these VM to update from the Azure Portal.

Any suggestions on being able to mange this locally on the VMs?

The better option is to not install the update until you can restart it. After installing an update the server is in somewhat of an unstable state depending on the details of the update.
