Problems windows server 2019 users

Copper Contributor

Hello partners

I had the following problem: I had installed Windows Server 2008 R2 Foundation in which administrative software is installed. This works with a Firdbird database handler.

Record that with that Windows license when you had a maximum connection of 25 users, the number 26 could not access the shared folders of the server or make the connection to the system. We change the server and place a standard Windows Server 2019 operating system and with this operating system I can exceed the number of users who visit the shared folders that are inside the server and the connections to the administrative system, but from there the issue of the users beginning to lose connection to the database and must reload the system so that they can read the database once the administrative system surpasses the 25 users.

Thank you all. Greetings.

May want to ask here about support for Server 2019 and any limitations there might be.

Hi, I understand your redirection to firebird, but the question is this: Windows Server 2019 Standard, does it constantly refresh or clean user sessions?

Does this make users terminate the connection to the server?

Could this disconnect the database?

Could you make a delay in disconnecting users?

Could you choose the users to which you do not disconnect the session?

What happens when you reach the limit of connections on Windows Server, TCP / IP ports are closed too?@Dave Patrick

Maybe you're asking about opportunistic locking?

As to max concurrent TCP connection in windows server should be something over 16 million. Firebird may have its own set of limitations, better to ask firebird experts about this.

Hi,
according to the answer by Microsoft Employee:
It depends on the edition, Web and Foundation editions have connection limits while Standard, Enterprise, and Datacenter do not.

Hola amigos.

Hello friends. Thank you for your collaboration and your time helping to solve the problem. We have found the fault and you were right since the problem came from Firebird and not from Windows Server. The users placed special characters such as the “ç” cedilla and when the query was made the database was disconnected and the other users lost connection. System programmers are cheking how to validate this character as it is widely used in France, Portugal or Catalonia.

Glad to hear, you're welcome.

You're welcome,
and Nice job finding out the cause of that problem!
