NAS Migration to Windows File Server

Copper Contributor

Hi,

My organization is planning to get rid of NAS since it has less space occupied and wanted to save cost too. So our plan is to migrate the SMB shares from NAS to Windows Server 2019 with high availability. All the share folders are accessible using DFS namespace. My plan is to copy the entire data share by share into Windows Server 2019 using robocopy including ACL and then create a share folder and update the DFS path.

May I know the above solution is appropriate or do we have a best suitable solution for this migration with less impact and high availability.
