Microsoft Server Licensing Go Subscription?

Copper Contributor

I would like to get a clarity on the licensing plans our Microsoft Server. I have servers on 2012 R2. And was informed by the Technical Team that the server was already end-of-life. But on Microsoft Website shows until 2023 but they mentioned that extended support are only for those with Support Contract else you will not be getting any updates anymore. Also, Microsoft is not offering any Support Contract anymore.

Also, they mentioned that on Q2 2021 Microsoft Server licenses will be subscription based annually like 0365.

Please enlightened me regarding these matters.

As to subscription based.... it sounds like you're asking about Azure?

@Dave Patrick They said that Windows Server 2019 licenses will go subscription based on Q2 2021. That they will stop selling perpetual licenses.
