Hyper-V 2016 installation

Copper Contributor

Hi guys

I am trying to install Hyper-V 2016 evaluation from scratch but on the first window it requires a license key to be entered before continuing. According to the download page no key is required. I've had no trouble installing 2012 or 2012 R2 in the past. I've tried searching the web but have thus far been unable to find anyone else with this issue. Any ideas?

If you downloaded Server and not Hyper-V Server, it will prompt for a key.

But no, Hyper-V Server does not / should not require a key.

The evaluation media should simply time bomb at 180 days.

Did you get it from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-hyper-v-server-2016

?

I checked with the product team and they validated that this does not happen when the 'Hyper-V Server' media is used.

You can get this when the Windows Server media is used.

The PG verified that they downloaded and tested the English and Japanese language versions to double check - and neither prompted for a key.
